This is the second part of the reader's guide series for my books which will hopefully help a reader find something they would like to read. Not all my books are associated with a universe but those that are group as follows: Future Chron, Remembered Earth, Manifold Earth, Ancient Earth and Forgotten Earth. The universes are a way to organize a series of books that share the same science and technology, same social background, and sometimes the same characters.
The books in the Future Chron Universe are examples of highly extrapolated, distant future stories. The science in this universe includes such technologies as wormhole drives, wormhole weapons, and time-manipulation (slow down or speed up time). None of these highly extrapolated sciences or technologies are available, yet, and it is far from certain they will be, but they are fun to imagine.
The first series in this universe, called From The Earth, continues mankind's journey (and the extended Jackson family's personal journey) from the Earth to the nearest star system Alpha Centauri. The following titles are grouped according to the word counts explained in the first part of this series, with the reading order indicated by (##).
Novelettes:
Circle Of Retribution (6) – I wrote this in 2017 about a helium-3 mining operation in the upper atmosphere of Saturn. While the mining company is commercial, the pilots are military, many graduates of the Mars Space Academy. The sabotage in the story is a result of an incident that occurred in the previous story, Union.
Freedom From Want (7) – As introduced in the first part of the guide, the struggle between the Terran Federation (Earth based) and Solar Federation (Mars based) intensifies, people have to make a choice between safety or freedom. The choice of freedom leads to Saturn's moon Titan, base of the mining operation in the previous story, and quickly becoming the technological powerhouse of the Solar System. As it turns out, deciding to leave Mars was easy, escaping the authoritarian Terran Federation was difficult and dangerous. A story written in mid-2017.
Break Up (8) – Sometimes appearances are deceiving. Most people thought the division and dissent on Earth were a result of the antagonism between the Solar and Terran federations. But actually, there was a third party whose interests were best served by the chaos tearing apart the old world. This story was written in the summer of 2017.
Kuiper Station (9) – A story I wrote in the summer of 2017. After the breakup of many nations of the old world, the expansion of the human race into the Solar System stalled. It was over sixty years before exploration continued. A mission to the outer Solar System to prepare for the leap into interstellar space once again turned into a power struggle between the opposing federations. But with members of the Jackson family aboard and the stars calling, the mission had to succeed.
The Cloud (10) – The forces for freedom were building a bridge to the stars. The Star Way was a laser-powered highway upon which giant solar sails would travel between Earth and Alpha Centauri. Every hundred astronomical units there was a giant relay station with huge lenses to refocus the laser beam from the Sun. A Jackson was leading the effort but still there were forces of sabotage active.
Novellas:
First Interstellar (11) – Those that would destroy freedom had won, temporarily. The Star Way had been half finished, the solar sail ships could be accelerated but not decelerated to a stop in the Centauri System, until Ajax Jackson decided to finish the family business and reach the stars.
The longest story in the series, it was finished in the summer of 2017 but not published as a standalone story until 2019 because of a mistake I made with Amazon's KDP pre-order requirements.
All these stories will be available soon on Substack for free (see sidebar) and are already available in the collection, From The Earth: Volume 2 or the collection From The Earth: Complete for a significant savings over individual purchases.
Next, I will write a guide for the novels in the Future Chron Universe beginning with the Wormhole Series.
